Copy of Kaiwyn - Off & On

Kaiwyn returns, once again inviting us into the depths of his musical psyche. With Off & On, he crafts a modern-day lament that captures the complexities of love and relationships.

It’s a song for those navigating the confusion, disillusionment, and fleeting hopes that come with the territory. Kaiwyn’s back at it, teaming up with Simon Dobson from Lakehouse Audio, and they’re mixing things up in the sound lab.

We’re talking about an experimental alternative pop track that’s not afraid to throw some wild instruments into the fray—kazoos, brass, whistles. Off & On starts with a vocal and keys intro, a quiet, almost plaintive opening that feels like a whisper in a crowded room. It’s intimate, drawing you in close before hitting you with the hook of the verse and chorus.

Kaiwyn’s voice is surrounded by dynamic indie pop vibes, with stirring background vocals and quirky sonic textures adding layers to the experience. And oh, those lyrics.

‘‘ There’s a raw, emotional honesty here that can’t be ignored.

They cut right to the heart of the matter: the bewildering push and pull of modern relationships, the off-and-on indecisiveness that leaves you dizzy and reeling. Kaiwyn captures the frustration of trying to navigate love in the digital age with lines that are sharp as a razor.

There’s a raw, emotional honesty here that can’t be ignored. ‘You said you need me, but you don’t / But then you stalked me oh no’. The song progresses, and you feel the tension building, like a rubber band stretched to its breaking point. The second verse settles into a straight groove, a brief moment of clarity before the shuffle of the chorus sweeps you back into the chaos.
