EMME LENTINO - Dive

Updated: May 11, 2022

The New Zealand based, Oregon-born singer-songwriter Emme Lentino has just released Dive, the follow-up to her hugely successful single Shake It Off, which generated plays on MOOD MEDIA, FLOW FM NETWORK, GRANT BROADCASTERS, 3AW, ABC LOCAL, ABC COUNTRY, KIX COUNTRY NETWORK, MTV / CMT and many more, and was featured in a National ad campaign for Victoria’s Secret.

Shake It Up followed the success of the Oceanside remix, Peter Pan, and a string of playlist favourites—including Last Christmas, the reinterpretation of the classic George Michael song, which featured on MTV Australia, the Philadelphia News Channel 17, CTV Calgary (National News in Canada), Global News (National News, Canada) and received airplay on commercial radio world-wide and consumer outlets including Bed, Bath and Beyond.

The multiskilled singer-songwriter’s new track is a big, bold enthralling ambient pop track that eschews obvious hooks and generic components to create a larger-than-life ballad and affecting pop-rock extravaganza. As Emme says about the inspiration behind the new track, ‘This song is so important to me.

The songwriting journey it took me on while composing the piano riff and lyrics was painful and messy. I had just moved to NYC. I spent every last dime on my first keyboard from Guitar Center. To be quite honest, I went through a very depressing breakup and sat in my room, crying my eyes out.

As I was sitting there crying—the keyboard called to me. From the depths of despair, my fingers started tinkering a melody. It was haunting, and the words came quickly and suddenly, my heart felt understood.

I didn’t know it then, but years later, I would bring this song to the brilliantly talented Dan Antunovich (producer, composer, bass player who toured for years with Grammy Award and Golden Globe-winning artist Kitaro) and record the song at the iconic Nightbird Studios (Los Angeles, CA) with Nick Gaffaney (Cairo Knife Fight).’
