Grace Amos - Listen Real Closely

Listen Real Closely is the new release from Grace Amos, a name you’ll be hearing a lot about in the future. The young singer-songwriter from Cobbitty NSW cites a broad spectrum of musical influences including indie and mainstream and it’s with her unique brand of crossover pop where Grace is making her mark.

In 2018 Grace’s social media success led to her becoming a finalist in the 2018 Discover Series, judged by Amy Shark. In 2018 Grace was chosen as a support act for international artist HRVY for his Sydney concert, playing to thousands of fans.

By late 2018 Grace had capped off a great year by winning the Maton Guitars Britton Morrison Scholarship, enabling her to attend the prestigious CMAA Academy of Music. Grace’s new track Listen Real Closely is a crossover smash, amalgamating a rich blend of styles and creating an unforgettable emotionally charged song that has the feel of a classic song: a smooth ethereal sound and production complemented by Grace’s stirring vocal performance and an insightful lyric.

Known for her charismatic stage presence and her indubitable rapport with audiences, the all-round nature of Grace’s artistry is a sure sign that Listen Real Closely is merely the prelude to what will no doubt be a stellar music career. The new track begins with an acoustic guitar intro, setting the pace for the rolling rhythm of the track.

‘if you listen real closely you’ll hear as the world breaks my heart’

The melodies are strong, with each part helping to build the song’s pay off, which appears with the simple yet highly effective one line chorus, with its cogently poetic line, ‘if you listen real closely you’ll hear as the world breaks my heart’.

Adding to this is an interesting arrangement and a dynamic bridge part which is layered with lush harmonies and a surging rousing feel.

A moving and confident exploration of self-identity, Listen Real Closely will be this year’s next genre crossing hit.
