LIAM RORKE - Will You Be Mine

With a stunning debut album released and already garnering huge plaudits Australian singer-songwriter, Liam Rorke has just dropped one of the stand-out tracks from it, Will You Be Mine.

The new single is a heartfelt, stirring ode that explores all the beauty and wonder of being in the throes of falling love.

Utilising an organic, soulful sound, memorable melodies and a candid lyric, Liam’s gentle cadences communicate a very personal yet universal story with aplomb and impassioned honesty.

As Liam says of the song’s origins, ‘It’s about the feeling you get when you meet someone special and realise you’re falling for them, and the rush of excitement associated with that…and working up the courage to ask them Will You Be Mine?’ The song begins with an upbeat shuffle groove that sets up the rhythmic foundation of the track, with Liam’s melodic lines hovering above fine performances all round.

But it’s clear from the onset the kind of track we’re about to hear with the opening lines, I’ve never met someone who made me wanna fall, establishing the lyric’s concerns.

This is carried right through the track and displays Liam’s creative intentions. As he says about what he’d like his songwriting to do: ‘I’d like people to listen and feel and connect, and maybe help them put something into words that they couldn’t, or help them go through a difficult situation and feel they’re not alone’.

‘‘I always write about emotion… it’s pretty raw, literal, it’s a story. I only really write about personal experiences as a way for me to process and get through things I guess.

Audiences will connect with Will You Be Mine and Liam’s musical drive which he says focuses on emotional storytelling. ‘I always write about emotion… it’s pretty raw, literal, it’s a story. I only really write about personal experiences as a way for me to process and get through things I guess’.

This characteristic of Liam Rorke’s artistic endeavours, through the conduit of this finely crafted song, will register with many.
