Anita Spring - This Ain't Pretty
Australian singer-songwriter Anita Spring has just released her new single This Ain’t Pretty. The song is a well-crafted hybrid country-pop track that explores the emotional truths behind a relationship.
Music has always been a major part of Anita’s life and experiencing the highs and lows of the business have created opportunities for creative expression that are now bearing fruit for this gifted musician. ‘I was signed to Universal Music as a pop artist and despite some early success, like for so many others, my time in that machine came to an end.
I reflect back on that period so fondly. I was given four years of magical experiences that I will always be grateful for and it’s led to many musical relationships, most of whom I collaborate with today’, Anita says.
A recent inspiring road trip to Nashville with two close friends was the spark that re-energised Anita’s musical ambitions. Anita is no stranger to success, as a long list of impressive musical collaborators and affiliates reveals – Gary Kemp (Spandau Ballet) John Holiday and Trevor Steel (Escape Club) Grammy Award-winning Doug Gills and Mark Narmore (Reba McEntire, Shenandoah) Powderfinger, Vanessa Amorosi, Tina Arena, Christine Anu, Ian Moss, Joe Camilleri and Ross Wilson.

‘I believe these songs will define me as an artist and I’m looking forward to releasing them over 2020/21’.
This Ain’t Pretty pulls together an expansive breadth of experience to create a powerful and timely song about self-identity and personal freedom.
Utilising a meticulous and rousing vocal performance to explore the complex terrain of a troubled relationship This Ain’t Pretty blends pop, folk and country to create a compelling contemporary style. This Ain’t Pretty will no doubt resonate with many, its subject matter all too universal and pertinent.
As Anita has said about her forthcoming album from which This Ain’t Pretty is lifted, ‘I believe these songs will define me as an artist and I’m looking forward to releasing them over 2020/21’.
