Australian singer-songwriter Anna Weatherup has just released Climb, a soul-stirring alt-pop mantra about personal struggle and the path back into a place of strength, hope and light.
Anna’s extraordinary career has taken her from the heights of nationwide exposure during her stay on The Voice to taking stock during an interim period of self-reflection to becoming a finalist in the prestigious Hollywood Music in Media Awards in 2019.
Anna discovered her passion for performing when she was only 12 going on to release several single releases and four studio albums revealing the ambitious nature of her creative energy. And now finally: the release of Climb, taken from her much- anticipated album Crossing The Sea. Climb is an impassioned and spirited expression of self-discovery and determination, exuding warmth and integrity, with Anna’s startlingly evocative performance the centrepiece of this inspired track. Utilising such disparate genres as rock, country, folk, grunge and gospel,

Anna has infused these styles to her innate artistic sensibilities and developed a hybrid form of accessible yet intense and fresh musical alt-pop blend. Citing influences such as Johnny Cash, Kenny Rogers, Pearl Jam and Alanis Morissette, these touchstone musicians have no doubt been significant sources of inspiration. Climb opens with an ambient textural landscape, setting the mood for Anna’s voice; at once alluring and captivating. The track ramps up with the rhythm section kicking in, adding to the energy level. The melodies are strong, culminating in a huge chorus that makes use of gospel-like background vocals and a wide expansive sound, featuring driving edgy guitars and tasteful licks that provide a flowing counterpoint to the soaring chorus melody.
