Sydney based indie folk-rock band Josh Orange has just released a new track I Will Follow You.
It follows their previous hit Little Miss America and is yet another stand-out song, taken from their much-anticipated forthcoming album Midnight Lights.
Josh Orange, whose members are Gordon Burke (vocals/acoustic/keys), Andrew Wass (guitars/vocals), Blaine Munnings (bass guitar), Alex Miller (drums) and Shane McLaughlin (guitars) has released three albums, Songs for the Journey, Big Day Tomorrow and Eyes Wide Open and has also won wide acclaim including winning the rock category prize in 2015’s The Great American Song Contest.
I Will Follow You is a track that’s introspective with a vaguely cathartic sense about it as it looks to the past and present to take on themes of family and responsibility while showcasing the band’s yearning spirit and entrancing appeal. As the band says of their creative process: ‘We love what we do, we are a gang of brothers that are all fighting for the same goal - great songs.
The live show is where we shine the most: it's unpredictable, it's always a huge buzz and we look forward to taking the new album on to a stage soon’. I Will Follow You is a well-structured track, with not only a pertinent lyric but strong melodies and a lush earthy sound, utilising the restrained musical performances to communicate an emotionally eloquent story.
‘We love what we do, we are a gang of brothers that are all fighting for the same goal - great songs.
I Will Follow You takes its cues from a real-life narrative. As Irish singer/songwriter of the band Gordon Burke explains: ‘The song captures the family cycle from a father to his son, from generation to generation, and the tough decisions that can face a farmer in deciding what’s best for his children. There are also the family emotions around who stays and who goes as part of the cycle of farming in any country.
The song is about farming and the way its traditions impacts families anywhere in the world’. I Will Follow You is set to be another career milestone for Josh Orange and no doubt many will be looking forward to their soon to be released album.
