Australian R&B music artist Phoenix Verum has just released his single This Is The Way.
Created during the COVID 19 isolation, the new track highlights this emerging star’s multi-talented skills as a musician, writer, vocalist, producer and performer as well as his abilities to reflect on some of life’s challenges, in this case, a relationship breakdown during a pandemic, and to condense feelings and emotions and transform them into a rewarding and entertaining musical language.
This is The Way is an upbeat, R&B flavoured tune with many other stylistic elements added, including funk and pop; all blended to create a marvellous whole, a song that will get your feet going as well as your head.
The lyric explores the complexities of a relationship and distils them all into a simplified series of ideas. But the song also has many hooks; from the alluring groove to the melodies. This is a self-assured and accomplished record and this is partly because Phoenix is an established performer, having shared the stage with such artists as Guy Sebastian, Darryl Braithwaite, Jebediah, The Superjesus, and performing at various locations around the world.
'‘Not all break-up songs need to be sad and soppy, as break-ups can and should lead to better things’. And that’s the case here.'
As Phoenix has said about the new track: ‘Not all break-up songs need to be sad and soppy, as break-ups can and should lead to better things’. And that’s the case here.
The song is a break-up song that doesn’t sound like a break-up song and it takes a lot of skill and talent to be able to create such a track. This Is The Way is a full-sounding record, replete with exceptional musicianship, an emotionally-charged vocal performance, inventive instrumentation and just the right balance between smoothness and raw energy.
This Is The Way was mixed at LA’s Ripshore Studios by producer Heath Ripplinger (Sick Puppies, Stephen Bradley (No Doubt/Gwen Stefani) Jimmy Kimmel Live!) and is sure to expand Phoenix Verum’s growing fanbase.
