SANDEE FACY - Last Time
Sandee Facy’s track Still That Girl debut #1 on the Australian Country iTunes chart and spent 18 weeks on the Top 20 Country Thunder Chart.
The Melbourne-based singer-songwriter is back with a follow-up Last Time, a country-pop track that’s sure to please admirers of her previous releases.
Originally a small-town girl from Michigan, in the United States, Sandee Facy has called Australia home for almost 15 years. Sandee has a long history in the music industry, performing solo, in duos and bands. In her early years, she received a scholarship to the renowned Interlochen School of Music in Michigan, which led to a career highlight of performing at the Ryman Auditorium, the legendary music venue in Nashville.
After decades in the music industry, Sandee began writing songs. Inspired by the tragic death of a close friend, her creative process became her therapy, dealing with her grief by channelling her emotional pain through the creative process. Last Time has a stream-lined sound and a restrained feel that’s peppered with tasteful guitar, swelling background vocals and led by Sandee’s expressive vocal.
‘Last Time is a satisfying blend of pop and country with the main source of its heat generated by the clear cut lyric.’
As Sandee has said about the song, ‘Last Time is a song I hope empowers people to draw a line the sand and walk away from bad situations’. That sense of empowerment is what gives this track its snarl but it is also what imbues it with a vaguely melancholic edge; of course, what good is a love-gone-wrong song if it doesn’t have such an edge, such a flavour.
But it’s not the lyric alone that’s contributing to this but the melodic structure, most particularly the kind featured in the chorus, where the main lines descend and the resolve utilises two notes that seem to indicate a defiance brought about by a lack of tolerance; and justifiably so.
Last Time is a satisfying blend of pop and country with the main source of its heat generated by the clear cut lyric.
